Our Head Coach is Mark McInnes. He is a specialist spin bowling coach. Mark has been a leg-spin bowler for over 15 years and has had experience as a player and as a coach. He is available to work with all your spin bowlers in technique correction, mentoring, bowling to batsmen, plan execution, field placing, and captaincy for spin bowling. This can take the form of spin bowling clinics either at your club or working with individual spinners during training sessions.


He has this message for young spin bowlers looking to perform at their best.

"During my playing career I was a leg-spin bowler myself, so I know first hand what it takes to be a slow bowler. At times it is a tough task being a spin bowler, however, with the right education and guidence, along with plenty of hard work, being a spin bowler can be a very rewarding position within any cricket team. Leg-Spin 

Leg-spin is arguably the hardest art in cricket to master. It takes years of practice, patience and perseverance. The rewards however are worth the time and effort required for success.

Leg-spin bowling coaching includes
        - grip
        - spin / turn
        - action (feet, front arm, shoulders, bowling arm, wrist position)
        - variations (leg-spinner, toppie, wrong’un, flipper, slider, backspinner)
        - trajectory, pace, line, length, bounce
        - bowling around the wicket
        - tactics (plans, field placements, captaincy)
        - one-day bowling
        - confidence, self belief, preparation
        - mentoring 


 


Off-spin Bowling 

Off-spin bowling in the past has been seen as ’tying up an end’ or has been used to restrict runs. However, an attacking off-spin bowler is a great asset to any team. They must look to take wickets first, and then restrict runs.

Off-spin bowling coaching includes

       - variations (off-spinner, arm ball, over spinner, slider)
       - trajectory, pace, line, length, bounce 
       - using the crease
